Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj are some of the artistes who collected multiple awards at the sixth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards which was aired last night Tuesday, October 11.
Chris Brown won the ‘Best Hip-Hop Video’, ‘Verizon People’s Champ’ and ‘Reese’s Perfect Combo’ awards for his collaborative with Busta Rhymes and Lil’ Wayne on ‘Look at me now’. Busta also took the ‘Sweet 16’ award for his verse on the same song.
Lil Wayne went home with two awards including the ‘Best Live Performer’ beating Busta Rhymes, Cee-Lo Green, Jay-Z and Kanye West to it and also ‘Lyricist of the Year’. Female rapper Nicki Minaj also grabbed multiple awards for the ‘MVP of the Year’ and ‘Made-You-Look’ categories.
Chris Breezy and Weezy were however not present at the awards show. Both camps are yet to give a reason for their absence.
Veteran rapper LL Cool J was given the honorary ‘I Am Hip-Hop Icon’ Award.
The awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Mike Epps and featured performances and appearances from such big stars as Swizz Beatz, T.I., Lupe Fiasco, Erykah Badu and Eminem.
