MC LOPH AND SISTER FINALLY LAID TO REST

The late rapper Obiajulu Kenneth Nwaozor popularly called MC Loph was buried today Friday, October 28, 2001 along with his sister Chinwe at his family’s compound in Ugwuaro, Anambra State.

As reported some weeks ago the chubby singer was said to have been driving down to the East along the Benin/Ore road when, his automobile crashed early Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Loph was in the company of his sister and fiancée who was supposed to become his bride in a few days. His bride-to-be survived the accident while he and his only sibling died.

The singer is most popular for his hit rendition of a remix of Late Osita Osadebe’s ‘Osondi Owendi’.

Joseph Yobo, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Dangote & 360 Others To Receive National Honors

364 outstanding Nigerians have been selected to receive National Awards in different Categories.

Business mogul Alhaji Aliko Dangote who topped the list with the award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON becomes the first individual outside government to receive the nation’s second highest national honour.

Others selected include Joseph Yobo, Mariam Usman, Peter Konyegachi (gold medalist). They will receive Member of the Order of the Niger, MON. Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Olu Jacobs and Kanayo O Kanayo will be receiving the Member of the Federal Republic, MFR award and Mr. Osita Iheme popularly known as Pawpaw of the Aki and Pawpaw fame is also honoured with MFR. Chinedu Ikedieze known as Aki was honoured last year.

Nigeria’s first female vice-chancellor, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams is honoured with an Officer of the Federal Republic, OFR alongside a number of Chief Justices of the states including the erstwhile Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Babangida Nguroje who resigned that position at the peak of the crisis in the House in 2007

Also a handful of serving ministers including Olusegun Aganga, Emeka Wogu, Godsday Orubebe, Diezani Allison Madueke and Dr. Usman Shamsudeen were also honoured with CON. Mr. Jim Ovia and Mr. Atedo Peterside two bankers were also honoured with the CONSTITUTION.

SAMSON SIASIA SACKED FROM SUPER EAGLES JOB

Super Eagles Coach Samson Siasia has been fired by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the BBC reports. We’re told his sack today Friday, October 28, 2011 is based on his failure to take the country to the forthcoming 2012 African Cup of Nations.

According to the BBC, 11 members of the NFF went into a short meeting and the decision to relieve Siasia of his duties was made after its technical committee had recommended the dismissal of the ex-Super Eagles player.

Siasia’s job had been under the knife after he failed to qualify for the 2012 edition of the Nations cup to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

NFF President Alhaji Aminu Maigari was said to have told the board within their short meet that the decision wouldn’t be reversed, according to PM News.

However, sources have also revealed that four out of the 11 NFF scribes are not happy with the decision as they feel Siasia has done way better than his predecessor since he picked up the job as senior coach from Austin Eguaveon in November 2010.

Siasia is yet to make any statement.

Nigerian Music Video Awards [NMVA] 2011 Nominees… Darey & Jodie Top The List of Nominees

The 2011 nominees list for the NMVA, Nigeria’s first music video awards is finally out.
Topping the list this year is Darey and J’odie with four nominations each and followed closely by Goldie and Freestyle with three nominations. Other great contenders are Omawumi, Sammie Okposo, Dipp, T.I.V and Tipsy who also have two nominations.
For the first time since its inception, NMVA has included Best Southern Africa Video and Best Western Africa Video as new categories in this year’s award.
Aside recognizing new artistes who are doing extremely well in their chosen careers, the awards is also recognizing the efforts of incredible new music video directors. Nominated alongside Clarence Peters this year in the Best Cinematography category are Nodash and Tokah for their ingenious directing on No Be Dada and Kuchi Kuchi respectively. They were also nominated alongside Patrick Elis in the Most Promising Video Director category. The NMVA has established that artistes and video directors as well as producers can share glory side by side on the same stage as witnessed at the previous successful editions.
Lots of plans are already in the pipeline as preparations for the fifth consecutive edition of the awards heats up. Expectations are also very high in every sector of the entertainment industry as to what to expect in this year’s event that is fast positioning as the most credible, most respected and most attractive out of Africa.
The awards organizers re-instated their commitment to transparency and as such are weary of all lobbyists warming them to stay at bay as only good videos will be duly rewarded.
The attention of the whole world has been drawn to the first music video awards in Nigeria at one point or the order due to the successes and traditional values associated with the event. In furtherance of the organizers believe for traditional values, this year’s event has been tagged ‘Celebrating Our Cultural Heritage.
To lend credence to the theme of this year’s event, the Federal Ministry of Tourism has endorsed the project as a viable national brand deserving all institutional and corporate sponsorship. It may interest you to know that this year’s edition of the award will be hosted by Lagos State Government.

Kelly Hansome Not Arrested – His Management

You saw the press release sent in yesterday by the Mo-Hits camps. Now this is flip side of the story from Kelly Hansome’s management team. Kelly Hansome was not arrested according to his management. Read Below:

Rumor has it, that as of Yesterday October 24 2011, Kelechi Orji aka Kelly Hansome was arrested concerning the copyright of Tuface’s featuring D’banj “FEELIN GOOD” Freestyle Remix. Sources confirm that was not true, KH was not arrested but only simple asked to appear at the local police station. Kelly Hansome’s lawyer was allegedly supposed to meet up with member of Mo-Hits to resolve the issue of Copyright, but instead the issue ended up at the police station. The Lawyer was asked to request the presence of Kelly, which he immediately did, and Kelly obliged, coming down to the station with another lawyer who was sent by KEYOEMO (EFCC Official Lawyer ). Kelly was asked to sign documents stating he will take down the song from the internet; this was after it was proven that Mo-Hits have the legal rights to the said song. The issue is now resolved. A Kelly Hansome Representative will be dropping a video in a few hours in regards to this matter. KELLY HANSOME WAS NOT ARRESTED!

Kelly Hansome Arrested! Signs Undertaking to Mo-Hits Records Concerning Un-Authorized Material

A few weeks ago Kelly Hansome released a remake/remix of a song, I’m feeling good which was originally recorded by 2face & dbanj. The “remix” of the song featured 2face & Kelly Hansome and was on the web for a few hours before taken down.

Fast forward to today, and we get this in our mail box. Go ahead & read:

Yesterday Monday 24th October 2011, at the Garki Police Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, one Kelechi Obinna Orji, also known as “kelly hansome” was brought in to the said Station and taken into custody and remanded on bail in the sum of eight hundred thousand Naira (N800,000.00) concerning, among other things, his admitted willful infringement of the intellectual property rights (copyright) of Mo’Hits Records Limited.

He signed an Undertaking and Apology in favour of the said Mo’Hits Records at about 4p.m., witnessed by several police officers (including Chief Superintendent Victor Erivwode, the Divisional Police Officer). A scan of the said Undertaking is attached to this email. He undertook to refrain from further use of Mo’Hits Recprds Limited’s material, released or unreleased, and offered profuse apologies to Mo’Hits Records Limited. He also appeared to be convincingly remorseful to everyone at the Station, including the extremely distraught father of his equally embarrassed friend mr Rex in Abuja.

The Police Station was attended by the said kelly hansome and his advisers and counsel for his part, and by representatives and counsel for Mo’Hits Records Limited

BEN BRUCE TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR OF BAYELSA STATE

Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce is set to declare his intention to run for the governorship of Bayelsa State.

The former Director General of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) is said to have already picked up his ‘Expression of Interest and Nomination’ form over the weekend and any time from now should officially announce his intentions.

‘Yes, I heard he wants to take shot at the Bayelsa top seat’, an inside source who does not want to be named disclosed to Nigerian Entertainment Today.

Submissions of forms close today in preparations for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries scheduled for November 19, 2011.

The list of others who have already picked nomination forms are the present governor of the state Timipre Sylva, Henry Seriake Dickson, Boloubo Orufa and Christopher Enai among others.
